Pentecost is often described as the “birthday” of the church because it’s the first time that diverse people could “hear” one another in their own language. In this church, we say “we don’t have to think or believe alike to love alike,” but “hearing one another into speech” and understanding our different set of beliefs is a unique challenge for the non-creedal church. Yet, Pentecost has lessons for all of us.
