The Authentic Life
by Anne Obradovich, Worship Associate

August 12, 2012

Travel back in time to Paris, France, in the 1940’s as we listen in on a conversation between John-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir and Albert Camus—three leading existentialists—as they discuss authenticity and the authentic life. Authenticity is the degree to which one is true to one's own personality, spirit, or character, despite encountering external forces, pressures and influences which are very different from, and other than, oneself. First I will relate my journey to authenticity, then give brief bios of our three protagonists, and then we will listen to the conversation.
